Nickel Sleeves and Nickel Screens

ROTHTEC’s electroformed seamless nickel sleeves and nickel screens have many advantages over heavy mandrels in the flexographic and gravure printing processes, but they are used in many other ways as well.  In offset printing, their lighter weight makes them cheaper to ship, more user friendly, reduces downtime in the printing process, and they are easier to store.  But nickel sleeves and screens have a variety of other uses as well in coating, laminating, embossing, holographic packaging, and more.  Our customers have tons of custom uses for them, some of which are so proprietary, they won’t even tell us!  Each electroformed nickel sleeve or screen is created according to customer specifications, typically on mandrels that are the property of the customer, but stored at ROTHTEC and used to create their custom sleeves or screens as their orders are called off.

Once a sleeve is created ROTHTEC can flash the sleeves with copper to prepare them for engraving.  Some of our customers coat them with rubber to use in offset printing.  Others have us create holographic master shims that allow them to create beautiful eye-catching packaging.  While we can create patterned sleeves and screens, some customers take our sleeves and laser cut them for their use.  If you are wondering whether we might be able to make a custom nickel product for your business, contact us, chances are we can.  If it is made out of nickel, chances are, we can make it (with a few minor exceptions, like jewelry).
